The European Parliament Election will be held on Thursday 22nd May and our church hall will be used for this event. We need to provide a rota of volunteers to man the church from 6am until 10.30pm. The rota is in 2 hour slots for volunteer names and is located on the Hall of Friendship notice board. Three slots are still to be filled – 7 – 9am, 1 – 3pm and 3 – 5pm. Please add your name to the rota if you can fill any of these times and if you have any questions contact Ian Messer.
Members of the property committee would like to invite people to join them in the annual clean up day 31st May 9am to 12 We are looking for people to clean in the church buildings, group members to clean out old unwanted items from their cupboards.
We also want a gardening group to work in the Manse
Every week flowers brighten up our church because we have a flower ministry. Some people new to our church and also not so new may not know how it operates. Briefly here is how it works, there’s a Flower List in the Hall of Friendship (that’s the name for the area between the sanctuary and the church hall), simply write your name beside the date on which you want to donate the church flowers. Most people donate church flowers to commemorate dates special to them, such as a birthday, anniversary or the passing of a loved one. Typical donations are around £20 and the money should be given to Evelyn Eadie, usually on the Sunday before the date in question or on the particular Sunday. Evelyn purchases and expertly arranges the flowers in the church. After the service, you’ll see several ladies arrange the flowers into bundles. These flowers are then distributed to people, mainly within our parish but this is not a prerequisite, who are ill, house-bound or just in need of encouragement. There’s also a ‘flower box’ for donations, located in the middle of the rear pew.
Thanks for continuing to support this very important ministry.
We had a number of enquiries in response to the advert for the post of minister at Liberton Northfield. Some of the enquirers have submitted applications. We are arranging for initial interviews with the nominating committee during May. The interviews are the first stage of the process, which will include the nominating committee going to hear the applicants preach after the interviews and we will reassess the position then. Please pray that the interviews would go well and that they would help the nominating committee and the applicants to discern how to go forward to the next stages.
