Our Liberton Northfield Bookgroup, named Lovelies Who Love Books on our WhatsApp group, began in May 2019.
The idea is to read a book in approximately six weeks, chosen by consensus with the aim of finding God-like qualities in characters we could admire and emulate.
Our second intention is to share food related to the text.
Our first book was “The Color Purple” a novel by Alice Walker, about the ugliness of poverty and yet the central character was full of hope.
In a subsequent gathering we looked at “Travels With A Stick” by Richard Frazer.
At Christmas we broke away from a book and watched “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
The group has been suspended since lockdown earlier in 2020 and we look forward being able to re-start.
