Worship Services

Sunday Morning Services:

At Liberton Northfield we gather on Sunday mornings at 11.00am, worshiping the Lord together. These services held in our sanctuary at 280 Gilmerton Road (EH16 5UR). Free on-street parking is available.

During our worship service we follow a structured liturgy fitting to the correlating season on the church calendar. The liturgy is projected on screens, so no need for you to bring hymnals with you.

What can you expect coming to our morning service?

A warm welcome and friendliness (even behind masks nowadays). Although we are not yet permitted to sing in church, we do recite and ‘hum’ hymns together with music. Our accompaniment various from formal to contemporary styles – yes we are a mixed bunch, so we sing  various kinds of hymns – Ephesians 5:19 says: “Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

During the service we have joint prayers, we read from the Bible (bring yours’ if you have one), and we have a sermon in expository style which focus on Biblical truths for our everyday lives as children and disciples of Jesus Christ.

Liberton Northfield Parish Church is a place where everyone seeking the Lord, is welcome. Realising that different folk have different needs, some have doubts,  all of us are vulnerable, some are searching, others are in awe and just want to worship – this is a place for all who needs a place of belonging. Belonging to God and to a community of people who feel, think and live in similar ways. For this reason we try to see our morning worship as a place to find rest in God, reflect, to worship and pray, to share in fellowship with other believers, and to find inspiration for our Christian journey. On behalf of Liberton Northfield, I hope to see, worship and welcome you in our midst.

Sunday Evening Services:

Join us on our weekly Sunday online evening service at 7.00 pm in a time of worshipping the Lord and exploring key issues of the Christian faith, applicable to our lives.

The services (being online due to the lockdown restrictions) are very informal and in the comfort of your own setting. During these gatherings we sing, read the Bible, discuss various Biblical themes and share in fellowship and prayer. Themes are set out per month and the topics are available in advance.

If you would like to join us, please contact, Rev. Attie van Wyk via email (avanwyk@churchofscotland.org.uk), or contact us on our online inquiry form. All data and personal information are under data protection law, thus respecting your privacy.
